As it turns out, it follows issue #7 in this printing. To start off, the first issue in the volume is issue #7, which threw me when I was reading, because I wondered just where issue #6 was. This new trade paperback collection covers Hawkeye #6-#11, and makes it quite easy for readers to jump onboard the single issues, as this trade comes out only a month after issue #11 hit the stands.Īlthough a very enjoyable read, this volume isn’t quite as brilliant as the first five issues were (collected earlier in the year in their own trade paperback collection). Reading through this volume, you can see just why this book is such a critical darling, and also see why Aja won in those categories for his work on this book. From those nominations, Hawkeye picked up two wins, both for artist David Aja, one for his work as interior penciller, and the other for his work as a cover artist. I'm definitely on board, and I've totally taken off the whole part where I think about this as a superhero title under that title and expectation.Since the title was launched, Hawkeye has been a critical and fan favourite, and was one of the few Marvel Comics titles to be nominated for numerous Eisner Awards for the past year. I'm hoping in the next trade we'll revisit Kate and Clint's conversation, the way the Villain-Hero double play issue rolled out. That was genius and interesting, and gave us so much more information about the tenants of the building than we'd ever seen before.

I love, love, love the Pizza Dog issue this ends on. I love how much Kate know Clint and won't let him pull his normal crap. I loved the way the second to last issue went back at step and brought us to the villain in the end of the issue, matching the one before it where we saw how Clint got to that moment.

I love that Fraction has started playing around with timelines and appearances, giving himself a little more slack to be amazing with timelines and approaches. Show More takes you off with a bang, and I'm utterly in love with all the interaction of Kate & Clint and Clint & Natasha & Ex-Wife & Jessica.
